Crying Babies

I had to laugh when I saw this crying baby photo link up party.  When Vivi was a baby, I don't think we got any pictures of her crying.  As our only child, her tears were a rare occurrence and I never thought to document the crying when it happened.  I was more concerned with putting an end to the tears.

As if that would ever happen with twins!  Photos with one or more crying babies were an inevitability.  So here you have it, my contribution to the link up:

When the babies got going, so did Vivi.  Oh, and mommy.  Mommy always cried too.

    I love the one on the bed, with the blue and green sleepers! And that last one is precious, too. :) :)

    I saw a FB friend announce the other day that she's pregnant with #3, all singletons, but in pretty quick succession. Someone commented, "Get ready to have someone always crying." Probably true, huh? :)

    I spent my twins' first year crying with them too!! Dawson was never a big crier though - however, I have to think a lot of that is simply because he was not a twin so I could actually go to him every time he cried. "Twins aren't for sissies," as my favorite shirt says! :)

    Oh My Gosh...Jude's expression in that one pic pretty much sums up how I felt when one of my twins cry...LOL!!

    Hi! I'm stopping in via Marcia's link party. The pic of all three of them on the bed, with Jude's hands thrown up in the air - simply adorable and painful all at the same time. :) I would probably have my hands thrown up, too, along with a few tears of my own.

    So sweet. I hadn't even thought of pictures of the wee one crying. We had a two week period when the first teeth came in that I thought I was literally losing my mind.

Peace and Quiet

My girls spend a lot of time together.  Jude and Elie are inseparable for all the reasons associated with young twins and, apart from when she is in school, Vivi is home with them.  Vivi will often try to engage her sisters in her games which generally consist of bossing J&E around in the name of playing "school" or "dance class" or "summer camp." The problem is that Jude and Elie drive Vivi crazy.  They don't listen.  They don't follow her directions and even worse, they are full of their own ideas.  Oh, and sometimes they just. won't. stop. touching. her. stuff.  The few harmonious moments of sibling love quickly spiral into a three-way battle for control. I've tried to talk with Vivi about some of the ways that she can deal with her sisters.  Her first step is what we have called the counter-offensive.  She put this sign on her door: JUDE OR ELIYA CAN'T COME IN!!!!! What Is a Good Mother?

For the most part, I think I am a good mother.  I feed, clothe, and clean my children.  I tell them I love them.  I give them independence and encouragement.  I read to them and play games with them and drive them places.  I try to utilize positive reinforcement. Except when I don't.  There are times when I lose it.  When I throw a (plastic) plate across the kitchen because it is 8:00 at night and I told you it was bed time and not snack time.  When the whining is so insufferable that all I can do is shout "STOP IT NOW!!!!!!" at the top of my lungs so that I stun you into silence.  When I have to ask you for the tenth time to put the god-damned markers away because I am fed-up with scrubbing ink off the walls and floors.  When I tell you, "You know what?  I don't actually like that drawing." because I'm feeling spiteful that that you called dinner "disgusting."
